8 Months Old

Morgan is 8 months old today!

Nothing gets past Morgan now that she is 8 months old. One of the teachers at school calls her a Nosey Buisybody (somehow is sounds better coming from an older woman with a British accent)...we prefer to call it Active Curiosity. :) She has to know what is happening everywhere at all times, even at the expense of eating and sleeping.

Social: Starting school, this month has been a huge step for Morgan's social development. She has a couple friends at school (Jack and Maggie) who are all within 2 weeks in age. They smile when they see each other and try their best to play/share toys. It is too cute. Plus Morgan is having a great time interacting with the teachers.

Communication: Babbling has started and we get whole stories and dinnertime conversations sometimes...we just wish we had a translator! Every once in a while we think we catch a MaMaMa or a DaDaDa or an AAAAA (for Alia we think), but it may just be our imagination too.

Games: Morgan loves Peek-a-boo! Sometimes it is the only thing that will get her to stop crying...she just laughs and laughs. Another game we play is "Shake that Thing." If Morgan is holding something that rattles (i.e. the Maracas at school or Elmo at home) and you say "Shake, Shake, Shake," she goes crazy. Her teacher also says that Morgan loves the "Science Center" at school...they sure start them early these days.

Mobility: The alligator or army crawl has been perfected this month; Morgan will get into anything and fast. Some of her favorite trouble-making spots are the stack of magazines in the bathroom, anything crinkly that is headed for trash, and the dishwasher. At the beginning of the month, when you would leave the room she would cry and cry until you came back. She still may cry a little, but now she tries to follow you too...we love it!

My First Bug

I survived over 7 months in this world being as healthy as can be and I step one foot into that day care place and barely last a week.
Yep, I caught my first cold yesterday. Suppose I should consider myself lucky that it took this long to catch one. Mommy warned me to stay away from the girl with the goopy stuff pouring out of her noise but I didn't listen...and she was at home yesterday and I was at school and slowly more miserable throughout the day. Head congestion, clogged nose, slight fever, tired and just feeling yucky were my symptoms. And for a change all I wanted to do was cuddle with Mommy and Daddy. After a few naps, a good night sleep (with only a couple interruptions), some Tylenol, and Vick's vapor rub I was back to my normal antics by morning. And today I am the kid with the goopy stuff while other moms warn their kids about me. :)
The bug cycle continues! Watch out Mommy and Daddy, it's coming your way.

Kaya's First Birthday Party

Today we went to Morgan's friend Kaya's first birthday party. Happy Birthday Kaya!
It was amazing how much Morgan has grown and developed since attending Kai's birthday party only a few short months ago. Back in May, we paid the price for waking her up during her PM nap and she could care less that she was at a fun party. Now at 7 months old, Morgan was an angel, enjoying being part of it...putting the "final touches" on Kaya's gift, interacting with the kids, playing with toys, exploring everywhere using her army crawl and even tasting a bit of birthday cake.

And this time she could care less that she wasn't at home taking her nap...one could almost conclude she was enjoying the party even more because of it. It was noisy, there were kids everywhere, and we had a great time! Although we did come home completely exhausted...two of us did anyway.

Oh What a Week

It was an exhausting week for all of us. Morgan was even so completely sound asleep this morning that we missed our typical 6:45 alarm and were running a little late to work.

But things at day care are definitely better...it is amazing what a change after just a few days. We know Morgan is going to love it there and seems so happy already. She smiles at the teachers and enjoys all the activity. A huge turning point for us was Wed. morning...Morgan and Mommy were walking in for drop-off when one of the other moms and her boy Jack came up behind us. Morgan took one look at Jack and got so excited Mommy could barely hold her. It was too cute! And today Mommy heard a rumor that Morgan had her eye on Eric, the older boy (a whopping 1 year old) in class. Daddy is worried already!

And since we are posting today...just wanted to say today's our wedding anniversary. We can't believe it has been 4 years already and how much our lives have changed. We didn't get to take one of our big trips this year like in the past, but we did enjoy a date night this week to Fogo de Chao in Philly and were able to at least pretend to be on vacation in Brazil for a few hours. :) And thanks to our wonderful babysitter, a couple hours break from Morgan is vacation enough right now. http://www.fogodechao.com/

First Day of School

Morgan had her first day of school today and it was a pretty rough transition. Her entire room (luckily only 4 infants to start out) was new so needless to say it was a bit chaotic and just a tad noisy. There were some tears, food refusal, a milk mix-up, and definitely no zzzz's. And when Mommy went to pick her up, apparently 15 min. too late, you could hear Morgan's little tongue twirls all the way down the hall going full volume. There is no mistaking Morgan's cries anymore. But the teacher's seem really loving and the other parents are great. All in all not too bad for the first day and we know that things will continue to get better.

The Gang's All Here (in Carlisle)

We had a great time visiting with the Brown side of the family on Sunday. It is hard to get everyone free with our busy schedules so it was really nice to all be together. We were celebrating several birthdays (Grandma's, Grandpa's and Aunt Hillary's) and anniversaries too (Mommy and Daddy's included which is on Sept. 5th). It is also amazing how big Cousin Sohpia is getting...hard to believe Morgan was that small only a few short months ago. Check-out Morgan trying out Daddy's high chair...it's been around for almost 30 years now...what an antique!
