"More"

Morgan just started communicating her first word!

Ok, perhaps not in the traditional sense using speech, but using her hands. Morgan definitely caught on quickly to her first sign, moving your hands together to represent "more." We started showing her at home that doing this movement resulted in getting more Cheerios and it didn't take long before she was doing it herself. Sign language is becoming a common tool to help infants communicate before they are able to speak. Morgan's school also uses basic signs throughout their day.

So cool! We've been doing a whole bunch of signs with Fred but he hasn't tried any yet. I don't know if I've introduced too many, not consistent enough, he's not interested, or perhaps I haven't bribed him properly with Cheerios (an excellent idea!) Are you using a certain book? The one I used (now of course I forget the name... but that didn't stop me from xeroxing every page to make reference posters for the side of the fridge!) said something about always saying the word with the sign to develop speech. Any helpful hints on mastering the sign?
