NYC

Yesterday we took the day off from work and school and headed to New York City to see all the Christmas sites. We drove to Princeton, NJ (where we would spend the night) and took the train up to the city.

It was a beautiful day and we had a great time walking around Manhattan. Our first stop was the Christmas windows at Macy's. The goal was to complete the entire walking tour of all six department stores…we made it to ½ which wasn't too bad. :)

We took a short break for lunch at this great restaurant called Simply Pasta, which unfortunately wasn't quite kid-friendly (if you can believe it, they had no high chairs or boosters). But we made do and Morgan was really good, probably because she enjoyed the best meal of her life, lobster ravioli.

Being reenergized, we continued our walk to the giant Toys 'R Us. Morgan was not exactly enjoying the toy store, but who could blame her when the alternative to walking around inside were the lights and sounds of busy Times Square.

Night was quickly approaching (after a visit to Santa...more on that later) and it wouldn't be a trip to NYC at Christmas without seeing the tree, so we quickly trekked up to Rockefeller Plaza to see the huge tree, the skating rink and Radio City Music Hall (a couple more years and we'll be taking Morgan to see the Christmas Show).

Learning our lesson about child-proof restaurants at lunch, we took a recommendation from a friend and went to Ellen's Stardust for dinner. All the waiters/waitresses are singers/actors trying to make it on Broadway. So while you eat they perform! It was loud and a bit cheesy, but Morgan had a blast. She was dancing, swaying and clapping to all the tunes.

Finally our fun day had come to an end. On the way back to Penn Station we couldn't resist one more jaunt through Times Square. Nothing beats NYC at Christmas and even better Times Square at Christmas at night.
